Custom Injection Molding for Automotive Parts

Plastimold molds custom plastic parts for automotive OEMs, suppliers, and aftermarket brands. We work from your print or CAD model and take the part through design for manufacturability (DFM), mold making, injection molding, secondary operations, and fulfillment—all in one Delray Beach operation.
Typical automotive work includes interior and exterior trim, clips and fasteners, brackets, housings, connectors, and under-hood components. We support aftermarket product lines and specialty or low-to-mid volume vehicle programs, from first tooling through repeat production runs.
With 27+ years in plastic injection molding, our team reviews wall sections, draft, ribs, bosses, snap-fits, and gate locations before steel is cut. Learn more about our custom plastic injection molding services, or send your part for a quote.

Automotive Plastic Parts We Mold

Automotive injection molding covers a wide range of part types. Common programs include:

Interior & exterior trim

Trim pieces such as pillar moldings, center finish panels, cluster bezels, and garnish moldings, molded to your color, texture, and fit requirements.

Clips, fasteners & brackets

Clips, retainers, fasteners, and brackets that need reliable snap-fit retention, repeatable dimensions, and strength where they mount.

Housings & connectors

Connector bodies, sensor and switch housings, and lamp housings with controlled wall sections and accurate mating or sealing features.

Under-hood components

Fans and fan shrouds, radiator end tanks, and other under-hood parts that need heat, fluid, and vibration resistance, with resin selected to your specification.

Aftermarket and Specialty Vehicle Programs

Not every automotive program runs at full OEM volume. We support aftermarket brands, specialty vehicle builders, and low-to-mid volume programs that need production tooling and dependable repeat runs.

Aftermarket parts

Replacement and upgrade parts molded to your print, with tooling planned around realistic annual volumes.

Specialty & low-to-mid volume

Specialty and low-volume vehicle programs that need production-quality parts in smaller, scheduled runs.

Reverse engineering

Have a part but no CAD model? Our 3D scan-to-CAD service can help reverse engineer existing automotive components.

Engineering Resins for Automotive Parts

Resin choice follows the print and the job the part has to do: heat, chemical and fluid exposure, impact, stiffness, UV, and cosmetic requirements. Common automotive resins include nylon (PA), glass-filled nylon, polycarbonate (PC), PC/ABS, ABS, PBT, POM (acetal), polypropylene (PP), and TPE for overmolded grips and seals. If your print calls out a specific grade, we mold to it.

Insert Molding and Overmolding for Automotive Assemblies

Many automotive parts combine materials or hardware. Molding them in one step can reduce assembly work and improve part-to-part consistency.

Insert molding

Threaded inserts, metal terminals, and bushings molded into brackets, housings, and connector bodies.

Overmolding

TPE soft-touch grips, seals, and gaskets molded over a rigid plastic or metal substrate.

Secondary operations & assembly

Secondary operations, assembly, packaging, and fulfillment matched to your production schedule.

From Print to Production

DFM, tooling, and molding run as one connected process. We review the part’s function, fit, and assembly before tooling, then document process settings and inspection points for repeat production.

DFM

Review of wall thickness, draft, ribs, bosses, snap-fits, and gate locations against how the part is used and assembled.

Tooling

Mold design and build covering gates, runners, cooling, venting, ejection, and surface texture.

Molding

After mold prove-out, process settings and inspection points are documented around the part’s critical characteristics.

Fulfillment

Repeat runs, packaging, and scheduled deliveries matched to your forecast.

Precision CNC Machining Support

Some automotive programs need machined metal parts alongside molded plastic ones—brackets, inserts, fixtures, or prototype components. Our in-house precision CNC machining covers aluminum, stainless, tool steels, and aerospace alloys, so molded and machined parts can be reviewed and produced under one roof in Delray Beach.

Quality for Automotive Programs

Automotive buyers need clear requirements, controlled revisions, and inspection plans matched to the part—especially where fit, function, and appearance all matter. Plastimold’s quality systems include ISO 9001:2015, with CMM inspection on site. Certificate details and our other certifications are listed on our Quality page.
